Ippogrifo Farm is located in Caligiana, an ancient village about 500 m a.s.l., located on the hills of the Umbrian landscape, sloping down to Lake Trasimeno on one side (approximately 15 miles from Passignano sul Trasimeno) and towards Perugia on the other.
It is about 20 km from Perugia, 30 km from Assisi and Gubbio. Magione, once known as Pian di Carpine, is only 6 km away.
Its location in the centre of a territory inhabited by the Etruscans in ancient times, of which there are interesting archaeological sites (worship and burial), also offers the opportunity to visit beautiful neighbouring ancient villages (Corciano, Deruta, Torgiano, etc.).
Let's not forget that Umbria, in the green heart of Italy, is also dotted with numerous nature trails.
There are marked hiking trails in Caligiana and, what's more, amid the oaks and holms of our woods, it is possible to go for walks and naturalistic observations, delight in the large spaces and silence, rediscover the value of those small things that, every once in a while, we truly need and forget the hectic stress of life, if even just for a few days.
In this world, where the historical characters and story itself are kept intact, there are still workshops present that are dedicated to crafts, such as the processing lake reeds (Passignano sul Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago) or stone thanks to the talented but always rarer stonemasons (Corciano).
Charming Perugia gives us a quick look of its different faces: Etruscan, Roman, medieval, but also modern, represented by its escalators and minimetṛ mini-railway.
